    Hi Daryl,
You are brutally honest with yourself and you made me laugh. Where did you find a box with (or without) ‘invisible tape’? Speaking of invisible tape, a line from Jethro Tull’s song ‘Wondering Aloud’ comes up: ‘…and it’s only the giving that makes you/what you are’. Thanks, Daryl.

  2. I didn’t know what I’d learned until I read that…. now I know….I’m so glad I’m not in my 40,s anymore! I hope you get to reread that in ten years and realize how light and effortless life got.

Thank you Daryl. That was interesting and I hope that writing it down has helped put it all in perspective. Well done

Thanks Daryl. Welcome to the human condition. For me 2018 has been an opportunity to learn [again] Lao Tzu’s invitation to “accept being unimportant”, Erickson’s question “Why don’t people have more fun?”, someone’s comment that on their deathbed few people say “I wish I’d spent more time at the office” … an d my favourite “Death is just the body’s way of telling us to slow down” Have fun with your journey …

  5. Hi Daryl,

I loved this post! Thank you. It’s so relatable. I like your top priority, the family. If I’m no good with my husband, what’s the point of it all? Regarding my things, 2018 was a very good year for me, I learned and grew a lot. Part of that started with the Deliberate Practice Workshop in Chicago. Yup! You were there! Big impact and lots of changes. Not completely sure about the lags and leads, but I started measuring my outcomes and I’m now getting hooked on morning deliberate practice with my coffee. Very cool. I hope it works out that I can work more with you in one of your groups or the DP class that you’re developing. Good luck for a wonderful 2019!

    • Cheers, Bonnie!
I suppose our biggest priority is not to lose our ability to prioritise. I find myself needing to re-turn to this every so often, as my mind is so slow to process and also to keep my eyes focused.

So happy to hear about 2018 being a good learning year for you. It was great having you in our DP workshop last year!

It’s always a delicate balance between “performing” and “learning.” Hope to blog about this in due time!

Thank you for sharing these thoughts and personal experiences, Daryl! I was beginning to suspect that either you really are superman or then you have found a secret way to put in some extra hours to the day that is 24 hours for the rest of us…;) Since I think the modern superman would go through something similar to what you are describing, I’m still not sure about the former…But maybe there isn’t any extra hours out there that I have missed out on. 🙂

Thank you for being human and for sharing these important and very relatable topics. I think it is crucial to stop and reflect back in order for us to build ourselves a functional path in to the future. We have a lot to learn from each other, but we shouldn’t underestimate what we have to learn from ourselves. I hope you have a fantastic 2019!

  7. btw, I thought I should make a quick note here. I’m heartened by all the comments and emails I’ve been getting re: this blogpost. Big thanks!
