[1]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? This is to remind both parties, that we are talking about someone else who is not present in this meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taken from an entirely different world, Amazon&#8217;s chief, Jeff Bezos says his biggest competitive advantage is &#8220;obsessing over customer experience\u2026 start with the customer and work backward.&#8221; <pwa data-pwa-id=\"pwa-43AAFC3EADD0AA56FC264AD1BA8A3256\" data-pwa-category=\"grammar\" data-pwa-hint=\"The punctuation mark '[' may require a space before it. Consider adding a space.\" data-pwa-suggestions=\" [\" data-pwa-dictionary-word=\"[\" class=\"pwa-mark pwa-mark-done\">[<\/pwa>3] <br><br> (I previously blogged about <pwa data-pwa-id=\"pwa-A40018FD76A022AFB271FF21BC1931E8\" data-pwa-category=\"spelling\" data-pwa-hint=\"Unknown word: Bezo\" data-pwa-suggestions=\"Bezi~Gezo~Bazo~BeDo~Bezu\" data-pwa-dictionary-word=\"Bezo\" class=\"pwa-mark pwa-mark-done\">Bezo<\/pwa>&#8216;s philosophy about &#8220;focusing on what<pwa data-pwa-id=\"pwa-D195BE3163546483CEE4AFD54550F23A\" data-pwa-category=\"style\" data-pwa-hint=\"Readability may be enhanced by using:  will not\" data-pwa-suggestions=\" will not\" data-pwa-dictionary-word=\"'s not going to\" class=\"pwa-mark pwa-mark-done\">&#8216;s not going to<\/pwa> change&#8221;. You can read it <a href=\"http:\/\/darylchow.com\/frontiers\/focus-on-whats-not-going-to-change\/\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To keep this beyond just a platitude, at every meeting, the Amazon team is touted to reserve one empty seat to represent their customer.<br><br>Elsewhere, I found that different cultures have this practice of leaving an empty chair. A recent replication study on supervisor variance mirrors past findings on that supervision accounts for <strong>less than 1% on client outcomes<\/strong>.
