I was consulting with an agency just last week, and one of the therapists said this to me, “I want to get better. This is important… If I don’t know this about my outcomes, how am I going to improve?”<\/span><\/div>\n

This doesn’t sound quite earth-shattering. But if you knew that everyone in this team overcame the stumbling block of systematically measuring their outcomes<\/span><\/a> for more than a year, and as we looked at the team’s performance and deconstructed the story behind the numbers, it turned out that this therapist also had the lowest<\/em> outcomes in the team.<\/span><\/div>\n

Yet, he was the only one who was willing to embrace the vulnerability and talked about his performance from the get-go. He was the only one with a true “growth mindset.<\/span><\/a>“<\/span><\/div>\n

In a recent TED talk, Surgeon and writer Atul Gawande [1] points out something we need to remember:<\/span><\/div>\n
