I get the goose bumps when I hear the type of questions discerning therapists raise at my workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n

It strikes me every time not only because these are the questions I’ve been pondering about for awhile now, but also because of how universal these questions are.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s what I’m discovering:\u00a0<\/span>
\nWhen we provide a space for a\u00a0focused inquiry<\/a><\/span> [1], we create\u00a0an opportunity to ponder, search, reflect. We step into a\u00a0deeper sense of focus on the right questions, as we\u00a0resist the urge for a quick answer.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You know, if you know the answer, but you don\u2019t know the question you are in a bad way.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>But if you have questions, you will find answers.”<\/strong><\/em>

Here are some of the examples of actual questions psychotherapists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals like you ask:<\/span><\/p>\n

“Are we choosing the\u00a0right areas\u00a0<\/a><\/span>to focus on growth in professional development?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“Are our PD activities actually translating to improvement<\/a> <\/span>in our practice?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“What should we actually\u00a0focus on developing<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in order to actually improve?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“What does “improving” mean<\/a><\/span>?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“Why is\u00a0professional development activities<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(workshops, supervision, etc) not helping therapists improve?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“If psychotherapist value and invest in PD, why is there\u00a0NO improvement<\/a><\/span>?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“Does\u00a0theoretical knowledge<\/span><\/a>\u00a0improve clinical practice?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“Why do we continue to value efficiency over\u00a0mastery<\/a><\/span>?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“Why are we\u00a0not improving<\/a><\/span>?”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
